Assessment

A psychoeducational assessment helps understand a student’s learning profile and support needs. It may include evaluation in the following areas:

  • Intellectual functioning – measures general cognitive abilities (IQ)

  • Academic achievement – assesses skills in reading, writing, math, and oral language

  • Cognitive processing – evaluates memory, attention, processing speed, and executive functioning

  • Social, emotional, and behavioral functioning – explores emotional well-being, self-regulation, and relationship.

A tailored assessment can be conducted to identify the following as it relates educational impact and functioning. 

  • Learning disabilities (Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia)

  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)/Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Giftedness

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Emotional or behavioral challenges

Assessments offer valuable information about a child's functioning in various areas. It can also provide information that may be used in the development of school plans such as Individual Education Programs (IEP), Section 504, or for College Board accommodations.
